Do you receive over £188,000/year (k300,000) from Brussels? If so, we want to hear from you.
For that is the level of support at which EU farm commissioner Franz Fischler wants to cap all aid payments to farmers as part of his mid-term review of Agenda 2000.
farmers weekly, Bidwells and Syngenta believe this policy is misguided.
As well as discriminating against the UKs larger farmers, there is a strong belief these farms do just as much to provide the employment, conservation and product quality the commission, the government and society all say they want.
But we want to prove it. So we have put together a two-page questionnaire to find out exactly what the situation is on the farms being targeted.
No one knows for sure how many farms that is, though estimates put the figure at around 600.
If you are one of them, we would like you to take part in the survey. It should only take a few minutes to complete and it could provide vital information that may help protect your interests.
Time is short. DEFRA has asked for comments on the mid-term review by Sept 6. Our findings will be submitted as part of that consultation.
So if youve not been sent a questionnaire already, please contact Robert Cumine of Bidwells (01223-559527 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
