Dry period is the most important feeding time

MOST exhibitors felt the revamped cattle classes at the show put the event on a more commercial footing by rewarding lifetime production and genetic merit as well as comformation.

Breeders in the cattle lines said the new Total Performance Evaluation competition worked well to reflect the high calibre of UK dairy cows. But some felt the competition was too predictable and so the RABDF and the HFS would look to fine-tune the weighting given to lifetime production. It was felt this currently gave older cows an advantage.
