Durham Ox plate sails well past auction blue horizon…

Really dishy…this meat dish decorated with a picture of the Durham Ox, a record beast from the early 19th century, made £5400 at auction in Newbury recently. It is, say auctioneers Dreweatt Neate, one of the highest prices ever made for a single piece of blue-printed pottery in the UK. "It sailed past all expectations," said a spokesman.
