Early aphid spotter
CONGRATULATIONS go to Richard Harrison-Osborne, a British Sugar crop adviser at the Ipswich factory. He was the first to spot a peach potato aphid in the field this season.
The find comes on top of the earliest ever peach-potato aphid catch at the Writtle trap near Chelmsford in Essex on Mar 11. But with none caught at Brooms Barn yet the forecast for virus yellows remains unchanged, says Alan Dewar. *
