Easy axle change

ONE of the major players in the development and construction of front suspension is Carraro which, among others, builds the system used by Case and Steyr.

The latest development from the company is an electronically controlled suspension system fitted to an axle which can be interchanged with a traditional axle – without undue changes being made to the tractor.

The heart of the system is a single, centrally mounted vertical hydro-pneumatic dampening ram. The linkage arrangement forms a quadrilateral which changes shape as the tractor moves.

Built for tractors in the 70-185hp range, wheel and axle movement is +/- 4.5cm (1.8in).

If required, the suspension system can be locked up.
