Win a state-of-the-art computer worth £700

EBLEX IS giving away three desktop computers, each worth about £700, to FARMERS WEEKLY readers.

All you have to do is read this article, answer the questions and return to the address or fax given on the coupon.

ANSWER IS IN THE NUMBERS

Are you ready for life after produc-tion subsidies? This issue of FARMERS WEEKLY contains a Business Pointers supplement, offering information compiled by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) from 276 mixed and specialist livestock farms across England.

The cash accounts from these farms reveal typical gross margin, net margin, fixed and variable costs.

Using that information, livestock producers can analyse and compare their own costs which will point out exactly where savings can be made or performance improved.

For example, the output of the top one-third of intensive cattle finishing producers was nearly £70 a head better than the average. The figures show the main reason for this superb performance lies in targeted feeding and fewer concentrates.

The cash account costs supplied in Business Pointers by EBLEX form the basic benchmarking data for Metrics, an online initiative from the Red Meat Industry Forum (RMIF) which enables producers to submit their own figures to an expanding database.

More English enterprise costings data can be found at www.eblex.org.uk Benchmarking groups are being organised by the Red Meat Industry Forum (RMIF). More information can be obtained from Fiona Washington on 07973 701 209 or 01908 844 245. ?
