Efficiency counts for hosereels

LOW operating pressures and power requirements are claimed for a range of Italian-built irrigators.

The RM Super-Rain G and J series hosereels, imported by Spectrum Concepts, incorporate the Italian makers Flow Distribution Turbine which is said to both maximise operational efficiency and minimise losses. All turbines are self-emptying to reduce the risk of winter damage.

Prices start at £5675 for the entry-level G series, which offers 200-250m (218-273yd) of 63-75mm (2.5-3in) hose, and rise to £25,943 for the flagship J series, the Major 1000. The Major comes with 500-650m (547-710yd) of 110-125mm (4.4-5in) hose.

RM options include diesel-engine hose rewinding, low pressure standard or trellis-type booms up to 48m wide and hydraulic machine rotation.n
