Eight debutants…

A TOTAL of eight machines join Claass grassland equipment line-up for the 1996 season. New entrants include mowers, swathers and tedders.

Taking over the flagship role in the German firms drum mower range is the Corto 3100C (£13,850), a 3m (10ft) wide trailed machine fitted with full width conditioner, hydraulic drawbar and the options of 20mm, 25mm and 40mm (0.8in, 1in and 1.6in) cutting heights.

The conditioner unit is close coupled to the back of the mower to reduce crop less.

The firms Volto tedder line-up benefits from the addition of four models. All incorporate Claass headstock, which allows mounted machines to tow behind the tractor like a trailed machine when in work, and fold for transport.

The new models are the 5.4m (17ft 8in) four-rotor 540H, the 6.4m (21ft) six-rotor 640H and 640HR, and the 7.4m (24ft 3in) six-rotor 740H. Prices range from £5350 to £7525.

Dropped from this years Liner swather range are the 330 and 665, which are replaced by the 3.5m (11ft) 350, 470 and twin rotor 680. The 680 has a working width of 6-6.9m (19ft 6in-22ft 5in).

Prices for the three swathers are £6350 for the Liner 470, £3950 for the Liner 350 and £10,300 for the Liner 680.

Single-rotor swathers dont come any bigger, says Claas. The German firms 4.6m (15ft) Liner 470 is designed to shift two 2.4m (8ft) swaths on to fresh ground.
