Elementis to sell food subsidiary
ELEMENTIS, the chemicals group formerly known as Harrisons & Crosfield, plans to sell its last food and agriculture business, BOCM Pauls, by the end of the year.
The subsidiary is valued at about £65 million. It has been hit by difficulties in UK agriculture.
Profits fell from £1.02m to £0.9m in the first half of 1997. Overall interim profits before tax for the group were £19.5m down from £38.6m. Sales fell to £539.1m from £937.6m.
