RURAL partnerships including farmers, conservation groups and government organisations could deliver a more effective farm and environment policy, says a report for the SAFE Alliance.
The report, prepared by a senior Australian government official, describes how a similar initiative in Australia, Landcare, has developed. It has grown to more than 2200 groups and aims to achieve "sustainable agricultural land use" by the year 2000. But good examples of rural partnership initiatives do exist in the UK. *
