EU members want freer wine, cheese trade


EUROPEAN Union (EU) countries want Brussels to press their trading partners to lower import barriers to high-value-added farm produce, such as cheese and wine.

Several European trade ministers reaffirmed their support this week for the launch next year of a full-scale world trade liberalisation round of talks.

They want the EU Commission to start drafting negotiating proposals now.
