Europe ‘ready to accept banana defeat’

THE European Union (EU) is set to admit defeat in its long-running trade battle with the USA over banana imports, reports The Guardian.

The EU originally planned to appeal against a World Trade Organisation ruling that the banana regime flouted trade rules by favouring imports from old colonies.

The newspaper claims that 12 out of 15 members do not want to continue the dispute.
