Ex-laird drops libel action
THE former owner of the tiny Scottish island of Eigg has abandoned his libel action against two newspapers at a cost of around £750,000.
Englishman Keith Schellenberg, who owned Eigg for 20 years, had claimed that an article in The Guardian in July 1996 depicted him as a “playboy”.
He was also suing The Sunday Times.
