EXPRESS Dairies and Golden Vale are to combine their liquid-milk businesses.
The new company, Dale Farm Dairies, will be 80% owned by Express, who will contribute net assets of 10.1 million, and 20% owned by Golden Vale, who will contribute 4.7m.
The merger will give Dale Farm Dairies a stronger competitive platform as the leader in the supply of liquid milk in Northern Ireland.
It will permit it to reduce costs and optimise dairy utilisation by focusing production on the Express plant at Ballymena, County Antrim.
“This is an excellent opportunity to progress our strategy of eliminating industry overcapacity, improving efficiencies and enhancing customer service,” said Express chief executive Neil Davidson.
