Extended strobilurin control with Opera

NEXT generation strobilurin fungicide pyraclostrobin has won approval for use in the UK next season.

It will be marketed in a formulated mix with epoxiconazole as Opera.

The new strobilurin component of the mix, branded as F500, represents a revolution in disease control – equivalent to the jump from triazoles to strobilurins, says maker BASF.

It is the first strobilurin to offer significant curative activity as well as preventative control. Indeed, kickback activity on established disease is better than existing triazole standard epoxiconazole (Opus), the company claims.

Yield response in 100 trials, at 0.5t/ha, was the same as the move from a triazole/morpholine mix to Landmark, says product manager Tony Grayburn. &#42
