Faithful Welsh can win prizes

PRIZE money totalling £1600 is being offered in a competition for Welsh beef producers who have kept faith with the Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford breeds.

The money is being offered by Dovecote Park, the West Yorkshire-based meat company, whose Pontefract abattoir is dedicated to supplying Angus, Hereford and organic beef to 138 Waitrose stores.

Both pedigree and commercial suckler herds are eligible and will be judged on a whole farm management basis. Both breed societies and the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) are backing the competition, which has an Aug 15 closing date for entries. Prizes will be presented at the RWAS Winter Fair on Dec 2-3. &#42
