Farm advisor’s green plan for Scotland

THE new Scottish National Farmers Union advisor for the Highlands and Islands believes environmentally-based area payments will be the way of the future.

Beverly Wilson says in an interview with The Herald that it should be more widely recognised that farming needs to go down the environmental route.

She believes that government must recognise the plight of hill farmers otherwise it could risk losing many in the industry.

Ms Wilson is the daughter of a Devon farmer who previously worked as a regional policy adviser with the English NFU at York.
