Farmer pins hopes on the ostrich

A YORKSHIRE farmer is developing a business in ostrich leather, reports The Times.

Christopher Hobson, from Elvington, near York, has 350 of the birds in addition to his dairy and arable businesses.

He uses the ostriches to make fashionable leather handbags.

He hopes to establish a British market for his own brand of ostrich bag selling for £450 and has plans to double the size of his herd.
