Farmer wants to let wife die

SCOTTISH farmer William Grant is applying to Scotlands Court of Session for a ruling allowing his wife to die.

Mrs Grant suffered irreparable brain damage while giving birth and has been medically diagnosed as being in a “persistent vegetative state”.

She is only capable of being fed by tubes and has been kept alive for the past three years at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Mr Grants petition, believed to be the first right-to-die case in Britain caused by injury during a medical procedure, could be heard this year.
