Farmers face infection at lambing time

THE Moredun Foundation has warned farmers, their families and staff that lambing time is potentially dangerous because infections that cause abortions in sheep can affect humans.

The Foundations Dr David Buxton said while most people knew pregnant women should avoid involvement with lambing it was not so well understood that some infections posed serious threats to other people such as coxiella burnetii.
