Farmers furious over French influence

FARMERS are furious over a decision to allow their French rivals to hold a three-day market in the high street of Taunton, Somerset – a year after the local branch of the Womens Farming Union was refused access to the same site to sell British apples.

Some 20 farmers from Normandy, Brittany and Bordeaux will set up their stalls today offering a wide range of goods, including sausages, jams, champagne, goats cheese and cider.
