Farmers need public support

THE “re-connection” of the link between farmers and consumers is the theme of a column in The Scotsman today.

Public perception of the farmer has been soured by negative images such as grain mountains, subsidies, food scares and genetic modification, says the paper.

Initiatives are underway trying to re-create public support include the activities of the National Farmers Union and farmers own private initiatives.
