Farmers plead for right to beef market

FARMERS take to their pens on the pages of The Times for the right to sell beef.

One, a breeder of Aberdeen Angus cattle on Mull, argues that his meat needs to be treated differently from that “force-fed on inorganic barley and antibiotics”.

A Northumberland beef farmer writes on the failure of German and French consumers to contract any “ill-effects” from “retired” dairy cows before the beef ban.

He said this demands an explanation from experts.
