Farms for sale in the Falklands

AS MANY as six substantial farms are for sale in the Falkland Islands, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper says the bottom has dropped out of the wool market, which is the only real source of income for Falkland Island farmers who have 700,000 sheep.

The islands are hoping to market meat to the European Union, once an approved abattoir is built.

Foot and mouth, scrapie and BSE are unknown on the Falkland Islands, and no animal has been dipped for 20 years.
