Farmworker first to die from pig bug
A FARM-HAND whose spleen had been removed became the first person in Britain to die from a rare infection contracted from pigs, an inquiry in Wakefield heard.
John Forrest picked up a rare variety of Streptococcus suis bacterium a month after starting his job, reports The Times.
The coroner recorded a verdict of misadventure.
