Feedblock aid

FEEDBLOCKS could be used to help shepherd sheep, helping to avoid over-grazing in hill areas.

Tony Waterhouse, head of SACs hill research centre in Perthshire said trials had found that feedblocks could change the area sheep graze.

"This could help avoid over-grazing concerns. The problem with feeding concentrate as pellets and big bale silage is that sheep are usually fed where they are found, rather than shepherding them to another area.

"Feed blocks should be placed in the best area for the sheep and the hill – not just where its handy – to help avoid over grazing," he said.
