Fever restrictions lifted at 150 farms

By FWi staff

MOVEMENT restrictions have been lifted on about 150 pig farms in East Anglia caught up in the swine fever outbreak.

From 4pm on Thursday (23 Nov) the Ministry of Agriculture declared a revised infected area around the last case of classical swine fever confirmed on November 3.

This reduces the previous Infected Area on the Norfolk/Suffolk border and releases about some 36,000 pigs on 150 farms from movement restrictions.

These restrictions have been in place since the middle of August.

The decision to lift the area was made following full veterinary investigation.

Subject to further work and satisfactory results the infected areas in North Norfolk and on the Suffolk coast may be lifted soon, says MAFF.
