Fighting talk from new SE Growers chief
THE new chairman of SE Growers has made a fighting start to his job with plans to pinch market share at the expense of his Continental rivals.
Tom Skelly says Scotlands seed industry can grab business because of the problems caused by Brown Rot and other potato diseases in the Netherlands.
He said it was vital to strike now by increasing seed production as well as aggressive marketing.
Mr Skelly has taken over at Scotlands largest seed potato co-operative from Jim Allingham, who has stepped down after 10 years.
Mr Skelly was chairman of Nickersons International seed company from 1985 until 1990.
