Firebombers hit depot

A FIREBOMB attack on a Devon meat storage depot late on Monday night is being blamed on animal rights activists.

The alarm was raised at the Novacold site, Exeter, at 11.30pm after a lorry burst into flames.

Two vehicles were destroyed in the attack and a several more were damaged. Police found three incendiary devices as local fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

The area was evacuated and the devices removed for forensic examination by a Royal Navy bomb disposal squad from Devonport.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but a spokesman for Devon and Cornwall police said animal rights activists were suspected.
