Firm French market supports UK FOB prices
Tuesday, 01 June, 1999
UK FOB prices gained support from a firm
French market. THE export market was reported as being very quiet,
particularly for new crop positions and barley. NEW-CROP wheat received little interest as UK prices
are currently very close to French prices. UK delivered markets remained quiet. Prices were
reported to be operating more independently of
futures prices then usual. In particular, reports
suggest milling wheat trade is almost a parcel-by-parcel situation. TRADERS still report that parcels of unsold quality
wheat, in particular Group 2 wheat, are easier to find
than feed wheat. However, millers remain almost
covered for nearby requirements.
DEMAND from millers for new-crop milling wheat is also
reported to be very limited at present, with only very
small volumes trading.
