Firm French market supports UK FOB prices

Tuesday, 01 June, 1999

  • UK FOB prices gained support from a firm
    French market.

  • THE export market was reported as being very quiet,
particularly for new crop positions and barley.

  • NEW-CROP wheat received little interest as UK prices
are currently very close to French prices.

  • UK delivered markets remained quiet. Prices were
reported to be operating more independently of
futures prices then usual. In particular, reports
suggest milling wheat trade is almost a parcel-by-parcel situation.

  • TRADERS still report that parcels of unsold quality
wheat, in particular Group 2 wheat, are easier to find
than feed wheat. However, millers remain almost
    covered for nearby requirements.

  • DEMAND from millers for new-crop milling wheat is also
reported to be very limited at present, with only very
    small volumes trading.
