First Milk boosts ex-farm prices

By FWi staff

FIRST Milk has announced that it is raising ex-farm milk prices by 1.55ppl and 1.8ppl, depending on region, backdated to 01 April.

Members in the southern milk pool, which includes the old Axis business, will get the bigger rise.

Farmers in this area, producing 1400 standard litres a day, will receive 19.01ppl, after transport and marketing charges. But most members are on every-other-day collection, and will receive 19.44ppl.

A producer in the old Scottish Milk region, producing the same volume and quality, will receive 19.98ppl for every-day collection, the norm for the area.

Price rises were calculated separately, according to each pools income and cost, says the firms Jonathan Horrell.
