First of Honington herd sold at Crewe

THE first sale to disperse the Honington Holstein Friesian herd was held at the Pedigree Livestock Centre, Crewe, where 100 cows averaged £578.

The Duke of Grafton, who established the herd in 1970, is terminating milk production on his Suffolk estate.

Top call came for Honnington Wisteria 33rd, a second calver by MOET Fays Alert, served in January by A Juniper Park and still giving 32kg a day. She was bought by Hankins Heys Farm, Audlem, Cheshire. (Wright-Manley.)
