‘Flawed new role for MAFF’

RECENT government plans to replace the ministry of agriculture would not work, says the chairman of the Countryside Policies Panel.

Writing in The Times, Julian Sayers argues that MAFF should expand its policy function to consider matters beyond the mechanics of agricultural production.

He says it should aim to deliver a “fully integrated rural policy”.
