The Food Standards Agency Northern Ireland is leading an investigation into a meat and poultry coldstore operated by Euro Freeze (Ireland) Ltd, in Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh.
Investigations relate to a large quantity of foodstuffs found in the coldstore. The focus of the enquiry is on repackaging and re-labelling activity on the premises.

At this stage, no specific food safety issues have been identified in relation to any particular products, but the agency will be carefully examining the evidence as the investigation continues and will issue updates as appropriate.

This investigation follows a visit to the premises last week by Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) officials, accompanied by the police, which led to the contents of the coldstore being detained and any further distribution of meat stopped.

Emerging evidence suggests the use of illicit health marks. Apparently, legitimate products correctly health marked were also found on the premises.
