Four collection centres OKd

ONLY four collection centres were approved at the beginning of this week, while another 28 were still waiting for the green light from their local trading standards office.

All four are in Wales, with the latest being Carmarthen Market and Lampeter Market in Ceredigion. These follow earlier sites at St Asaph and Ruthin.

A collection centre held at Carmarthen last Thursday attracted 526 lambs and eight cattle. A Meat and Livestock Commission spokesman said it had expected a bias towards sheep in Wales.

Meanwhile difficulties tagging lambs at collection centres which have not come from their holding of birth have proved unfounded. &#42
