FRENCH President Jacques Chirac is preparing to unveil plans for a global scientific body which would monitor food safety.
He will make the proposal at the G7 summit of seven leading industrialised countries which starts in Cologne today (Friday).
Mr Chirac said he had already discussed the idea with US president Bill Clinton ,but Washington officials claim an agency would have adverse trade implications.
