France warned for defying EU laws

THE European Commission has threatened to take France to court for failing to respect European Union laws over licensing genetically modified products.

The warning came after France withheld consent for the marketing of two GM foods and halted their sale throughout Europe.

It has also been warned over its slow response to requests from other companies requesting authorisation for GM products.
