FW offers yardstick

ACCURATE and up-to-date records are essential for effective business planning and the latest data from the Agricultural Budgeting and Costing book has now been incorporated into the ABC Quickplanner program.

ABC Quickplanner allows stock and arable producers to enter proposed cropping and stocking regimes, which it then analyses to calculate potential gross margins and profitability.

Such benchmarking of a farm business is very important, says David Neill, a partner at the Andersons Centre and a farm business consultant. "How do you know how well you are doing unless you have something to measure your performance against?"

The Quickplanner program can give farmers an instant assessment on how their business compares to others and can form a useful precursor to a more detailed discussion with a consultant.

And this years Royal Show offers an ideal opportunity to do both. Simply come along to the farmers weekly stand with your farm details (see coupon left or visit www.fwi.co.uk/royal-abc) and a consultant from Andersons will run through the program and talk through your farm-specific results.

The program was developed by the Andersons Centre in conjunction with FW and is fully supported by Farmplan Computer Solutions. Those unable to visit the farmers weekly stand at the Royal Show can obtain further details from David Neill (01664-567766). &#42
