FWAGs safe storage tips

CLEAR, practical advice on the safe storage and use of fertilisers and farmyard manure is given in a new booklet* published by the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group.

It aims to help farmers adopt production systems which will bring benefits to agriculture and the countryside.

Minor adjustments to crop management, for example, can minimise fertiliser losses, while the planting of a buffer strip of willow on stream banks can protect the watercourse from run-off nutrient pollution and yield an occasional crop of useable timber. TG
