Genus Townley takes top spot

GENUS Townley moves from third to first position in the UK proven Holstein Friesian dairy bull rankings, based on Profitable Life Index.

By adding £7 to his PLI and PIN scores in the latest proof run, now £130 and £134 respectively, Townley overtakes previous number one UK proven bull Etazon Celsius. Celsiuss PLI and PIN have both fallen by £3 since May to £129.

"The lift in Townleys proof has come from his first daughters completing their lactations," says Genus sire analyst James Simpson.

Townley now has 78 daughters in 55 herds giving him a reliability score of 86%. A high production bull, he offers 1131kg of milk, 39kg (-0.11%) fat and 35.7kg (-0.02%) protein. But his type merit is low at +0.97.

Moving up the ranking from 26th position to fourth is All Nure M Adam Goodtime from Topline Sires. He offers the highest PTA for milk kg in the top 50 UK available bulls at 1221kg. His PLI is £126, PIN £122 and he is +29kg (-0.32) fat and +35kg (-0.07).

Also new to the top 10 are Bilsrow Ugela Mr Rolls marketed by Avoncroft, and Moet Flirt Freeman, also from Genus.

Genus is also pleased with the ranking of Moet Almira Grosvenor which has a +2.67 type merit and +4.66 udder composite score. He has jumped up into the top 40 UK proven bulls with £106 PLI, £98 PIN. Genus expects Grosvenors high type merit to attract demand from overseas. &#42
