GM crops ‘threaten flowers’

GENETICALLY modified crops would pose a threat to the cornflower and other wildflowers if they were planted on a commercial scale, according to a report by the charity Plantlife.

It says that lichen, fungi and algae might also be harmed.

Plantlife has called for more tests on the ecological impact on wild plants as part of the official trials of GM crops.
