GM crops ‘will fail to resist pests’

PESTS may rapidly become resistant to genetically modified (GM) crops that are meant to repel them, according to research in the magazine Science.

The research indicates that some insects could become immune to the crops in under five years, forcing farmers to use even more powerful chemicals.
