GM letters harvest continues
TRIALS of genetically modified (GM) crops will be used to test yields rather than ecological impact, claims one letter writer to The Independent.
A number of letter writers in The Guardian also take up the GM issue.
One takes issue with the criticism of Dr Arpad Pusztai – the scientist whose work on potatoes and rats ignited the controversy over GM food.
Another claims the likely effects of consuming large quantities of GM food can be gauged by watching audience and participants in The Jerry Springer Show.
The writer observes that 75% of processed and junk food in the USA contains GM ingredients – for which Americans have a seemingly insatiable appetite.
