Goldies Irish at 3700gns
A BULL bred by Jim Goldie, Dumfries – but in the hands of Michael Massie, Auchnagatt – drew the days most animated bidding at the Aberdeen Christmas Classic show and sale of beef bulls.
Goldies Irish, by Epatant and out of a Prelude sired cow, reached 3700gns before going to W Barclay and Son, Deskford.
The events reserve champion Limousin, Norman Cruickshanks Normande Lochnagar, by Gagnat, realised 3400gns to Sandy McRobert, Strathdon.
And the champion, Walkers Lauder, sold to Messrs Baxter, Banff, who have recently moved to north Scotland.
Sandy Lee and Cos Charolais Fordafourie Leo, by Kinclune Eclipse, stood supreme champion and sold for 2000gns to Brian Anderson from Shetland.
But top Charolais bid came for another from the Massie consignment when Kinbroom Farming Co gave 3100gns for Blelack Lordship, a Thrunton Damien son out of a Maerdy Victorious cow.
Averages: 16 Charolais £1719; 14 Limousin £2112; six Simmental £1128; and four Aberdee- Angus £1430. (Aberdeen and Northern Marts)
