Good bulls almost steal show

THE large number of good bulls at Lancaster Holstein dairy sales almost upstaged the heifer trade and produced the days top price of 1150gns.

Ringside favourite was Fordswood Evade – Wade x Blackstar x Shiek – from Fylde farmers J and M Walmsley. This yearling by Parker Aero Wade is out of Giffendales Star Emily RM Ex-92 that has just completed 12,400kg with her fourth calf. Buyers were A A & &#42 &#42 Capstick, Sedbergh, Cumbria.

Miles Ward and Carl Smiths Fatal-sired bull Stockfarm Harvey took top prize in the production/inspection class. He is a grandson of the great cow Juniper Cleitus Heather and stayed locally with J D and E M Wallbank at 1080gns.

The freshly calved heifer Garsby Inspire Doll 3, by Weeton Celebration, won the female title for W & G Cornthwaite, Garstang and made 1020gns to D Hodgson, Leyburn, North Yorks.

Averages: Nine bulls £950 and 27 cows and heifers £810. (Norton and Brooksbank with Lancaster Auction Mart). &#42
