Good week for the US
THE Financial Times reports on the “good week” experienced by the US last week at the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Among its successes the US can count is the WTO ruling that Washington can proceed with sanctions against the European Union for its failure to reform its banana import regime.
Another US success was the favourable decision from the WTO over Indias tariff restrictions.
This decision could lift tight Indian restrictions on 2,700 tariff categories including the import of agricultural products and chemicals, says the FT.
The progress China has made in securing entry to the WTO can also be seen as a success for the US, concludes the newspaper.
