Grain haulage costs static
GRAIN haulage charges showed little change in 1995, according to the Home-Grown Cereals Authoritys annual survey of about 500 traders and processors.
With hauliers facing higher fuel duty, costs rose just 3p/t to £5.07/t for an average journey of 61 miles. But despite the overall increase, charges for shorter journeys (up to 30 miles) actually fell.
Scotland had the highest costs across all distances in 1995.
