Grain selling sees prices up on week

ABOUT two-thirds of Mr Hosfords wheat has already been sold at prices generally better than those prevailing last week.

"The lowest was £70/t for 100t which I sold in July 2000 for delivery this December. The best is £85/t I took recently for May delivery. Other lots for December have made 70, 75 and 80, which just shows how volatile the markets are."

Selling strategy is based on talking regularly to four main traders. "I also subscribe to Grain Calls newsletter service. It costs about £100 a year and knocks spots off the HGCAs MI Saturday."
