Grain store move

GRAINFARMERS has capitalised on the demise of Viking Cereals by taking over the running of Viking Grain Storage Ltds 40,000t drying and storage facility in Lincolnshire.

Although Viking Grain Storage is a separate company to Viking Cereals, which went into receivership in April, members using the store have been left without a marketing agent. Grainfarmers will take over the store management from harvest 2002, along with the responsibility for marketing the Viking pool. &#42

including ex-farm grain.

Grainfarmers members are also expected to commit a substantial tonnage into the Viking store. Although managing director, Tim Pollock, declined to reveal the total quantities involved, he is optimistic that more business will be put its way. "Quite a few former members of Viking Cereals are already marketing grain with us," he says.

The agreement is subject to shareholder members approval, which will be sought over the next few months.
