Grant cash is announced by ministry
GRANT aid for producers in nitrate vulnerable zones in England and Wales has been announced by MAFF.
From April 17 farmers will be able to claim a 25% grant, payable on eligible expenditure, of up to £85,000 a business. Eligible expenditure includes waste storage and handling facilities and clean and dirty water separation other than roofing.
The investment must not involve an increase in production capacity. And work which farmers had started, or to which they were committed, before April 17 will not be eligible.
Announcing the grant, which has an annual budget of £800,000, junior farm minister Tim Boswell said that farmers would be able to call on ADAS for free advice to help them decide on the waste facilities needed to comply with the NVZ measures. *
